Ventilation Is Key

Greenhouse Supplies For Ventilation and Circulation

Proper ventilation is essential for healthy plants. We offer fans, louvers, solar louvers, base vents, and vent openers to ensure the best circulation of air for your greenhouse.

Plants need a fresh supply of carbon dioxide so that they can properly photosynthesize and make food to nourish themselves. Good ventilation provides fresh air and reduces overheating and outbreak of plant pests.

For best results, air should circulate throughout the entire greenhouse. Cross-ventilation is easily achieved by placing base vents low on one side of the greenhouse and placing a large vent or exhaust fan high on the opposite side of the greenhouse. This will bring in fresh air and pull out stale air.

To help you find the right size fan to purchase for your greenhouse, you need to calculate the volume of your greenhouse. For a quick, simple estimate (this will slightly overestimate your volume), multiply the length x the width x the height. This calculation gives you the CFM, cubic feet per minute. The general rule is that your intake should be less than the exhaust.

  • This guide should help you to find the right size fan for your greenhouse kit:

    12" Fan = 760 CFM
    16" Fan = 1250 CFM
    17" Fan = 1570 CFM
    21" Fan = 2600 CFM
    25" Fan = 3200 CFM
